GCC: INVISIBLE TOUCH by Kelly Parra
NaNoWriMo Update: Man, you guys are a bad influence. Except for
seaheidi and
jenfullmoon, who are zombies. Well, Jen is apparently a bad influence AND a zombie. Anyway, now I'm leaning back towards insanity (doing at least some version of NaNo). And I think I may have decided which story to write on. But I'm reserving the right to take it back.
I'm also reserving the right to report back on today's GCC book *after* I read it- which I definitely plan to do, since it sounds like it could be a great read to recommend to people who enjoyed GOLDEN. Until then, I'll leave you with the book's description and my interview with author and sweetheart Kelly Parra.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Do you believe in fate?
Kara Martinez has been trying to be "normal" ever since the accident that took her father's life when she was eleven years old. She's buried the caliente side of her Mexican heritage with her father and tried to be the girl her rigid mother wants her to be -- compliant and dressed in pink, and certainly not acting out like her older brother Jason. Not even Danielle, her best friend at Valdez High, has seen the real Kara; only those who read her anonymous blog know the deepest secrets of the Sign Seer.
Because Kara has a gift -- one that often feels like a curse. She sees signs, visions that are clues to a person's fate, if she can put together the pieces of the puzzle in time. So far, she's been able to solve the clues and avert disaster for those she's been warned about -- until she sees the flash of a gun on a fellow classmate, and the stakes are raised higher than ever before. Kara does her best to follow the signs, but it's her heart that wanders into new territory when she falls for a mysterious guy from the wrong side of town, taking her closer to answers she may not be able to handle. Will her forbidden romance help her solve the deadly puzzle before it's too late...or lead her even further into danger?

THE INTERVIEW
In addition to being a book fanatic, I'm a big TV and movie person, and when I write, I tend to see my books as either movies or television shows. Is it easier for you to see your current book as a movie or a TV show Explain.
I usually try and write my books as movies in my head. But a few readers of Invisible Touch have been asking me if there could be a sequel to Invisible Touch so I'm thinking it would be easier to see my book as a TV show so Kara and Anthony can solve a mystery with each episode. :) :)
If you had to cast your book with real-life actors, who would play the main characters?
I'm terrible at this question. I never see celebrities as my characters because I make up my own personalities and looks for them. I usually have impressions of certain celeb personalities since I watch a lot of behind the scene interviews and it's hard to replace them in my head as my characters. That probably doesn't make much sense. haha!
Okay, let me try this (if we don't take nationalities into consideration)...
Kara would be possibly be Vanessa Hudgens.
Anthony would be a younger Milo Ventimiglia.
Ooohhhhh- young Milo. It brings me back to the days of old school Gilmore Girls! Now let's play the "meets" game. If you had to describe your book as *something* meets *something else* (ie my editor referred to my first book as "mean girls meets charmed"), how would you describe it? Movies, tv shows, books, or anything else you fancy is fair game!
I would have to say Invisible Touch is Tru Calling meets an edgier Nancy Drew.
